Yfrog is ImageShack's mobile media platform, and is the leading media sharing service for Twitter. We are actively looking to add an experienced JAVA engineer to our team to help build a robust back-end capable of handling our fast-growing volume of users and media.
Responsibilities
- designing the application architecture capable of handling millions of requests from as many users on a daily basis
- defining the data architecture for storing and retrieving millions of user info, media info, etc
- developing the application to handle all the media and other requests without sacrificing the user experience
- integrating with ImageShack’s core platform for all the media-related actions
Qualifications
- a thorough understanding of JAVA
- experience in RESTful API development and execution
- well-versed in object-oriented approach to programming
- a strong background in data architecture
- experience in advanced database programming principles such as SQL
- a working knowledge of asynchronous application programming (e.g. AJAX, XML-RPC, etc)
- 4+ years of web software development experience, preferably at a consumer Internet company
The ideal candidate has:
- made a substantial contribution to a widely used open source project
- knowledge of distributed systems, distributed databases (e.g. Hadoop, Hbase)
